ASCENSION PUBLIC SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES HURRICANE CLOSURES

Afterschool Activities Canceled for Sept. 10, Schools Closed Sept. 11 & 12, and Classes Resume Sept. 13

Afterschool activities will be canceled on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, and all school campuses and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, and Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, in anticipation of potential impacts from Hurricane Francine. This decision has been made after careful consultation with emergency officials and is being taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Due to these unanticipated closures, we are canceling the previously scheduled Professional Development Day on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, when students were originally scheduled to be off. This will allow students to return to school on Friday. As our schools are required to meet a specific number of instructional days each year, resuming classes on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, will help us avoid canceling one of our scheduled holidays later in the year.
